ION Media Week 10

This week our show was based on Remakes in Film, Television and Music. My role for this week was OB, although we didn’t have enough time to find an OB topic, so I took on the role of a two-way reporter instead and created a quiz for the presenters to get involved with. The quiz was only 5 questions but filled up almost 7 minutes of the show. It included questions from film, television, cartoon and music. I feel happy with my role on the show as although I was meant to have an Outside Broadcast I made up for the lack of it by putting myself in another role and still having the same amount of input on the show.

PRE-PRODUCTION

We had a lot of practice for this show and unlike some of the other shows I have been involved in we had a session in Radio Studio 2 that helped lots of us get our heads around what was going to happen on the day. We also figured out that Jack could do an amazing Scooby Doo impression, so I new I had to include a Scooby Doo question in the quiz. We all as a group turned the pre-production aspect of the show around quickly and we all knew exactly what we were doing.

THE SHOW

I was only the two way report for the show so I was only needed during the quiz section of the show. I was confident when going into the show because I had practised briefly before, and I knew both Jack and Josh well so wasn’t overly nervous about leading them in a quiz. I feel once I had settled into the quiz it went really well, and we got to hear Jacks Scooby Doo impression.

I feel that Josh and Jack were great presenters together. I have presented with Josh before and have seen a huge improvement, this may be because of his work on Brayford Radio. Jack has always been a natural at presenting and I feel it brought more out in Josh with Jack being there.

Jake Berry was our producer, it took him a while to get involved in the role but eventually he began to book out rooms and Siren for practices and became a more present producer. It would have been nice to see this enthusiasm earlier on in the pre-production stages. During the show he continued to check that the presenters were ok and that everything was on time, I couldn’t really fault him.

Mia was our BA and did an absolutely outstanding job. She didn’t mess up any of the audio and timed in the presenters each time that something was played. She added her own input on when the presenters should start to cue into the next segment and was overall very calm and collected throughout the whole show.

Elliot took on the Online Role and did a brilliant job by advertising the show weeks up to the broadcast, as well as making polls that the audience could choose a song from that we would play on the show. This got the audience a lot more involved in the show and added that extra contact with the audience. We got Elliot into the studio to read out some of the tweets he had received, whilst Josh and Jack then talked about them. This was a really interesting way to read out some of the audience responses and I thought it really paid off and sounded really good.
