Week 19

This week all lectures, seminars and workshops were cancelled. It is the week of our live show to do with Health and Fitness.

This weekend we began our recordings for radio drama. On the 3rd and 4th we had two full days devoted to our radio drama. We decided to record each of our actors separately so that the director could have more time focusing on the voice acting and working with the actor. Meeting the actors that we had never met before was daunting, we had only seen them in pictures and it was like seeing a celebrity for the first time. I feel we got them settled quickly and we finished each day early because we were so efficient. I have started editing the drama but will do the majority of it in the coming week.

Week 17

This week marks the start of the second semester. I have a show based on Health and Fitness in two weeks and preparation is already underway. In regard to Radio Drama we have already got actors down and sorted for our main characters but are still yet to audition.

Lincs FM Trip

Today I attended the trip at Lincs FM. It was strange to see how drastic a difference there is between a commercial radio station and BBC. Lincs FM has an in house news team that travels around their patch getting reports. I didn’t realise that this much went into the news before this. Here we are with Kathy Green, head of the news team at Lincs FM.

Here we are in the Lincs FM studio with presenter Eddie Shaw. Overall I had a great time and it was more experience in the working world of radio that I have seen and now know what to expect.

Radio 1 Trip

Although the trip took almost 6 hours because of the tube strikes, I would do it all again. I enjoyed this trip so much, being able to talk to some of the heads of Radio One and seeing all of the studios was a huge eye opener for me. It was relaxing to see that the executives at Radio One were just normal people and not big scary giants. It was surreal being in all of the studios, and I can only hope to visit again, perhaps not as a visitor.

As well as Radio 1 we also got to look at Radio Drama, which was amazing to see how much of a bigger studio they have and the equipment that they use compared to ours.
